Anyway to resize a png without losing the transperancy AND without look horrible?

Thread Starter
I know how resizing transparent png's gets rid of transparency. So I tried re-adding transperancy (magic eraser), only to upload my newly made 80x80 avatar for a forum and see the edges are all white and sharp, despite being smooth on my PC.

I have IrfanView and Photoshop CS5 (both 32 and 64 bit) if you have instructions using those apps.

Use GIMP? GIMP is free to download.
Resizing PNGs always worked for me there.
Just open the file, it will open with a transparent background. Go to image > scale image. Resave as PNG.

This has also worked for me.
