Looking to move from H50 to Silver Arrow

What kind of results should I expect? in terms of temps. I am currently running my i7 at 4.2 Ghz with 1.33 Vcore and during Linx, my i7 hits 83 C >< This is with a push and pull setup.

So, with a Silver Arrow, can I expect around a 5 C drop, or is that unrealistic?

Id say thats exactly accurate about 5 C. H50 is OK. SA should serve u well. Should be quieter too

Just be careful w/ what RAM you use and your chipset heatsink

I can tell you that you won't be able to use your ram slot 1 if you plan on adding ram in the future...also I had to sell my SA and go w/ the H70 b/c my Classified mobo wouldn't work w/ the SA

Well I have Corsair XMS3 ram, and these rams probably have the shortest heatsinks ever (for rams that have heatsinks). I recall reading somewhere that ram that is 40mm and shorter will fit under the SA.

Btw, how did it not work with your Classy?

i can prolly answer that. the northbridge gets in the way. same thing happens with my noctua. i had to modify it.

anways. good choice for a cooler none the less. i hope it works out for you.

as long as its not as high of a northbridge as the classy's you should be fine. the 759 and 760's were east to west config killers when it comes to the SA and D14

i like the east to west look so i cut some of the heatsink out of the noctua.

Oh ****, I just searched up a picture of a Classy, and the northbridge heatsinks are HUGE. LOL DAYUM X.X I think my board will be fine.

However, do you think the SA is a worthy upgrade from my H50?

if your looking for cooler temps you really don't have many options coming from a H50. either go SA/D14 or true water setup. i have yet to venture down the water cooling road but im very impressed with my noctua and it hasn't failed on my highest OC that i have ever mustered up. ive gone to 4ghz and my highest on load was 68C. im pretty sure you will like the SA.

`my 2 cents

What's your Vcore and ambient? O.o Cuz at 1.25 Vcore on 4 ghz, my highest load is like 75 on Linx.
