A crossfired friendly 6950? - Page 2

This surprises me....I am using a custom fan profile via MSI Afterburner. And I never went beyond 60 degree on either card playing games. The top card is always 3 to 4 degree more than the bottom one. Although I do not have card butted up against each other.

Due to the physical box-like shape of the card, there really is no room for the fan to suck air in to cool the cards. I constantly see temperature in the 90 degree range when the fan speed is left to auto. If I use 100% fan it is in the 70-80 range, but the noise is unbareable.

Now that the cards have a gap the temperature dropped dramtically and I can game quietly. When I run a single card the temperature max out at 82 degrees on auto fan. I don't think my cards are defective or anything, they run great and I love them, but they tend to run on the hot side

My cards are about a mm apart in my case and my top card maxes at 77C. The reference cooler is very good. Both of my cards are unlocked and at 6970 clocks. Just be sure to set a custom fan profile. Mine is set to 70% at 85C.

To the Op, are those Silverstone Air Penetrator fans behind the gfx cards? If so, how much of a difference do they make in help cooling the cards? Been wondering about those fans for awhile but have yet to make the jump to buy any.

I will, it should be here ~tuesday and it shouldn't take me more then a week to do the benchmarks and fps in games...

EDIT
I wont be able to do benchmarks untill I get a new PSU, the one I have now isn't sufficient for the two of them on full load for a long time

Would having a fan positioned simular to the one in the attachment help the temps?
