First Time W/Cing - Have No Idea! please help

Hi all,

So I'v built alot of PCs in the past. But I have never gone watercooled. I was always fascinated by it and I though it looked like pure 5eX.

But I was put off by the price - and the amount of time/effort it took to do it.

Recently I decided to get myself a cheap back-up rig.

And I was just offered a:

CPU: Amd 5400+
Mobo: Asus Crosshair
RAM: 2x1 gb 667mhz RAM

and a CPU waterblock - dtek fuzion v2

all up $70 shipped

And with this I decided to go watercooling. I already have a xfx 4850 on the way.

So I will be looking at watercooling a xfx 4850 and an amd 5400+

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Tpk=xfx%204850

Nothing fancy - but just enough to give me a taste of watercooling for future builds

I am looking for something silent/and something that looks good

Considering the low spec parts - I want a relatively cheap watercooling job

What parts will I need? Can I get away with one loop? And what cheap yet cheerful case can I get?

I am looking at getting a cheap 4850 waterblock from Microcentre

Cheers,
Goldboy

p.s. some watercooling places seem to be having some sort of sale - would't mind jumping on those

I completely agree with the above that a 240 radiator should be enough for such a setup, considering AMD chips don't run as hot (unlike the modern day 4+ core i7s). The RASA kit, from what I've read, are great value. However, you already have a waterblock, even if it isn't the top of the line. Still, I believe you should make up your own mind, which is why I've provided you with two great videos that you should watch in full length if you are new to this whole watercooling thing:

This is a comparison between different kits (incl the RASA kits)

Here dazmode goes into more depth about what size radiator is necessary for what type of setup.

If you've got the time I would also check out his many other guides, they are very detailed and extremely helpful.

good luck and have fun watercooling!

Rasa 240 kit would be a good choice for a cheap loop.

I will probably need to watercool two ati 4850s and one CPU

I was thinking of buying everything myself and using components such as

http://www.dazmode.com/store/index.p...roducts_id=565

What parts would you recommend?

EK blocks are very popular and some of the best out there. The Rasa block is a runner up showing great performance while being cheaper than the EK HF Supreme cpu block. RASA/HwLabs rads are the popular choices here as well.

If you want to save some cash pick up a RASA kit and some gpu blocks and the only thing you may need to upgrade is the pump/res if you don't like your temps. If you want cheap the RASA kit is the way to go custom loops typically run 2-3x higher than the RASA kits.
