Will this bottleneck? - Page 2

I have never heard of either power supply. But for the price and wattage I'd say right away they are proportionally as good as the one you have, which means, not much.

A proper 650w PSU will cost more than that.

Get a PSU from Seasonic or Corsair.

Like this 620w Seasonic - 80 Plus Bronze.

The new Corsair TX-650w v2 is also a good choice - 80 Plus Bronze. If you want something a little cheaper, get the Gaming Series from Corsair, they are 80 Plus Certified.

Remember, the PSU is what keeps your PC running - you don't want it to ruin your components, so don't cheap out when buying one. It's a vital part of building a reliable, efficient and high performance PC, although often overlooked.

While I was looking at your suggestions, I also came across of the xfx 650w xxx series. It had some pretty good reviews on it. I don't know if this is true but I heard that this power supply is made by seasonic but branded as an xfx...the reason i brought this one up is because its on sale

I was trying to look for some reviews of the corsair gaming series, but I couldn't really find any. Newegg didn't sell them or anywhere else except for microcenter. How is the corsair gs 600w? Would that be enough to power a new hd 6950? The reason I ask is because I also plan to unlock to the card to a hd 6970.

The current power supply is actually quite good...it can just a little loud :/ but other than that, its been working for two years now without a problem. Do I even need an upgrade of a power supply?

I created a thread a few days ago with a similar question, and the answer is just what you are looking for:

The HX650 is a decent choice but it's kind of expensive. It's not the same 80 Plus rating because the HX750 and 850 are completely different units made by a completely different company like you've noted. The HX750 and 850 are excellent units, although you can now get units that are just as good for less money.

As far as I know there are no plans to introduce an updated version of the HX650.

CWT is a good company overall although they have some low-end units. The platform the HX750 and 850 are based on is still one of the best available.

Since 750W would be silly for a system with one GTX 580, I'm going to recommend a few other units in the 650W range:
- XFX 650W Pro Edition (exact same unit as the Corsair TX650V2, but typically found cheaper)
- Antec TP-650
- The NZXT Hale90 650W you mentioned is excellent
- XFX 650W XXX Edition
- And of course the SeaSonic X650 you also mentioned, that'd be the best 650W unit you can get, but if you can't find it then that's a moot point.

As for your P4 system -- you can put either your CX400 or your HX450 in it, it doesn't matter. The CX400 will work great.
