eyeinfinity and HDMI Audio

Thread Starter
So I currently use a 3:1 eye infinity setup. Its great and I love it minus the fish eye lense effect which I don't know how to fix yet.

So I also have a extremely nice Home Theater Setup which cost almost as much as my PC.

Anyways for the longest time I couldn't get the HDMI audio to work as it always said "Not Plugged in"

So I fudge around with it tonight. I did my best to troubleshoot it and finally got some results.

My Receiver now shows up as a Display in CCC. Now if I hit Extend or Duplicate all of a sudden the HDMI Audio show plugged in and works. It also gives me the best sound I have ever heard it makes the Xonar Essence sound like onboard Realtek. My music really stands out at 1411Kbps bitrate.

Now here lies my issue

I can't do Eyeinfinity now It only lets me use 3 Displays so I can't extend or Duplicate my Receiver.

The sound quality is so good that I can't just turn it off.

I did try Optical hooked up to my receiver but Quality of Sound is much better when sent over HDMI.

Anybody know of a work around for this? Any other HDMI out devices I could buy? Nvidia GPU?

Hmm thats a good question , optical gives me great sound quality .. im having eyefinity issues atm myself as i need to buy a passive adaptor to get my 3rd monitor to work.

Maybe its just not possible to use hdmi audio when using eyefinity ? as the hdmi port has a shared connection with the dvi ports and only 2 similtanious connections allowed at 1 time.. thats why u cant have 2xdvi and 1xhdmi . u need 2xdvi 1xminidp .

Is any of ur monitors hdmi ? so if you route the hdmi through one of the monitors through ur reciever and into the pc will it work ? or nah..

U have 2 gpu's cant u get audio from one of the cards using hdmi ?

P.s could u tell me what adaptor you are using for your eyefinity setup ? appreciate it .

I will buy another HDMI cable after work and try it out. It should work.

Yeah I was using optical, but I noticed a huge difference when I switched to HDMI. The music became even clearer then it was before. I could hear tones and sound that I couldn't hear over Optical.

For an adapter you have to use one thats certified. I tried buying one locally and it didn't work.

I have this one

So yeah HDMI to Reciever then HDMI to Monitor works. I guess the other cable I tried wasn't good enough. but the 1.4 cable I just bought did the trick.
