|Colorfire's HD6850 Xstorm is equipped with an overclocking button. It allows the card to switch between two operating frequencies: Normal mode at the 775/1000MHz (data rate 4000MHz) and Turbo mode at 900/1050MHz (data rate 4200MHz) which is the same as the reference speed of a HD6870. According to Colorfire, the Turbo mode of the retail version of the card will also unlock the hidden Shaders, turning the card into a full HD6870. This is a very exciting good news for end users.|
It looks like not only HD6950 can be unlocked to a HD6970, certain models/versions of HD6850 can also be unlocked as well.
Colorfire is the AMD/ATI branch of Colorful (which focus at Nvidia).
