Thread Starter
So i was wondering, i have a GTX460 Superclocked 768MB ram GDDR5 and i was wondering if it would be worth it to buy a GTX 260 and use the 460 as physx dedicated......would it even be worth it?

The GTX 260 216core is better than the GTX460, the gtx460 puts out about 91gb/s of bandwidth as where the 260 puts out about 130gb/s.....how is the gtx460 better, and i could also get the 260 for 100$ and the same 460 i would need is 170$

Yep.. what these guys said heh... For a little more than the cost of a used 260, you'll have a sweet SLI setup.

Btw, I noticed little/no improvement, with Need for Speed Shift, when I ran a 8800GT with my HD 5750. I know its not on the official list of Physx games, but it does install the Physx software even though there was no Nvidia gpu present. haha... gl..

edit..

Its not about the bandwith lol... It is about the processing power and newer tech. In some areas, your 460 OWNS my 285. Run some benchmarks and you'll see.

Don't you think that's a little rude? Not everyone knows this stuff.

To the OP: Your GTX460 is far better than your GTX260. The memory bandwidth can be misleading if you don't really know what you're looking at. With the GTX460 you have 120 more shaders than the 260, higher clock speed and DirectX 11. It would be a foolish thing to use the 260 as the main card.

A little tip for the future. Generally when you're looking at the same brand of card, the shader count and clock speed are most usually important unless one is a really low end card with 64-bit RAM or something.

I second that. The 460 is a superior card. I upgraded to one from a GTX 260 and my frame rates improved pretty significantly. Though I am a big fan of the 260s!
