ive had the UX1 for a while now I bought it for my electric guitar but since it also functions as an audio interface I've been using it to listen to my music.

so if you were to only focus on the audio quality of the UX1 as an audio interface and compared it to a more dedicated DAC within the same price range(+-) would It be better If I got new DAC or would I be better off sticking with the UX1?

as for the headphones I am currently looking at the: AKG 701, SHR840, and DT770. I can get either one for about the same price with the 701's being used and the others new.

The MiniMAX is an absolutely fantastic amp, I've compared mine to amps costing upto 2-3x as much and it really holds it's own, I've tried it with a wide variety of headphones and it sounds great with anything. The final sound will depend on which parts you opt for when building it, I chose to get it fully spec'd and I don't regret it. Quite a lot of the people at the Head-Fi meet I took mine to were shocked at how good such a small amp sounded.

I didn't build mine, I had it built by SolozAudio and I would definitely recommend them if you want the amp but aren't able to build it yourself.

Quite honestly for most people, as in for today's music, there's no need for a high fi system. For the price of a ux1, you're pretty much buying a STX in a dedicated dac/amp. There's not much sound quality differences in most today's music genres in that budget range between it and their exterior spdif/usb dac/amp counterparts. Unless you have money to invest in this, there's no need to build or buy an amp for your headphones.
