Looking for a gfx card for my first build

Hey guys, so I'm upgrading from my Gateway FX laptop to a desktop. I'm gonna mainly be using it for gaming with web browsing and light photoshop work. Battlefield 3 is coming out so I was hoping to get a good decent system to run it with haha.

I was looking at this combo build from newegg.com: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...t=Combo.617104

So I was wondering what card you guys would recommend to go with this build? Also, the case the combo comes with is only 430w, I don't think that'd be enough if I wanted to get a nice card, right? Thanks!

You can also change the bios of the 6950 to make it a 6970 if you're willing to do that. Basically the same card for a lot cheaper

I agree a 6970 or 570 depending on which side you want to go. No a 430 will not carry either card. Get a good 550-600.

Yeah I think I wouldn't mind going that route. I forgot to mention but I'm trying to keep costs at around 800-1000. Is it difficult to change the bios of a graphics card?

Yeah, it might have to come down to that because I just found out the case that comes with the combo is out of stock. So I'd need to get a new case and psu anyways.

No it is pretty simple. There is a guide here. Also the 6950 has a dual bios so there is little chance of bricking the card.

The new revisions of the 6950 have started shipping and they can't be unlock to the 6970. So it is a bit of a toss up as to what you will get. From what I have read people have still been having luck with the HIS card from but that probably won't last a whole lot longer. Even if it won't unlock it is still a nice card though.
