Screen tearing on second monitor when overclocked?

Thread Starter
So I recently just posted THIS and i found out that the screen tearing was occurring due to an overclock! When I restored factory settings, everything was fine. But when I put back in my OC's in Afterburner the second screen starting tearing again! What I want to know is what can I do to resolve this? I am, currently not on my OC (in sig) and I have''t gotten around to playing a game yet to see if changes are shown but........

Tearing in games or in normal use? In game you can often fix this by enabling VSync, to stop the card from pushing out more frames than the monitor can handle, which sometimes can lead to tearing.

No this is happening regularly like on my desktop! It is quite annoying...

I am currently going back to 10.10e to see if that will help, as it is the 5970's last optimized driver....

With the last few drivers, if you OC, the idle clocks revert back to their single monitor settings of 157/300 instead of 400/1000. You have the brilliant driver team over at ATI to thank for that.

Either go back to an earlier version (like 10.10e) or create a Preset with the fixed idle clocks (you have to manually load it at every startup though).

Had enough of AMD's crap drivers to be frank . I am soon trading this for a GTX580 non reference design so I guess until I get my last piece of RP required to trade, I will have to deal with this annoyance. I went back to 10.10e and nothing unfortunately......

Thanks guys for trying! +REP

It happens to me aswell.

Don't overclock>No tearing.

Or at least, it happened with Afterburner. Currently trying with TriXX

Edit: It's caused due to memory speeds rolling back to 900MHz, what causes tearing all over the place.

Flash the BIOS so that the memory speeds are the same across all powerplay states and you will be fine.
