What about a 970 w/ a R3F.

I'd also like to throw out there, that NO audio production rig needs 24gb of ram. At all. You're not rendering complex 1080p videos, you're rendering sound files. I highly doubt you'll need half of that.

Honestly, I'd say if you're not insanely adamant on 24gb of ram for whatever reason, get a 2600K, a Maximus IV or UD7, and 2 8GB kits of this (which is still incredibly overkill. you could do perfectly fine w/ 1 kit) for like 1,100 bucks, and smoke any i7 900 series except for the 980/990x which you already said you can't get.

What about the issues I've heard about with SandyBridge and recalls and things like that? I don't want to have to be their betatester.

the recall is over with the b3 boards hitting shelves right now. It was the stupidest recall ever to be very honest. Something no one was affected by.

Where would the Asus P8p67 Deluxe fit in with the Maximus and UD7?
