Chill factor III compound - Page 2

dude the chill factor 3 paste that comes with the silver arrow is good if not better than the MX-4, i read a review where the chill factor 3 beats the MX-3 & 4 but not by much though, you just waste $10.

Just curious whats the threshold temp for your i7 980x?

Well the thing says it only lasts 12 months. I'll need more compound eventually

I'm using the supplied chill factor 3 paste as my TX3 is too difficult to spread and it pisses me off. The temperatures of my cores during intel burn test are 45c-49c.

Wow I really hope I can get 45-49 out of mine too. That's pretty awesome. I think I'm going to use the CF3 paste first.

Kyle, I do not know what you mean by threshold temp! Tell me what it is and I will give you an answer.

Whats the hottest your cpu can get?
Just wanted to add that I got my SA today and started off with the CFIII paste, running 36C idle and 46C load(prime 95 small FFT's for 15minutes). Whereas before with my old sunbeam CCF I was 41c idle, and 53c load. Ambients during when those temps were taken are 25C.

While I am content with these temps, I do not like how troublesome it felt to mount the thing onto my AMD system (took awhile and got a few small cuts with the fins), so I won't be applying MX-4 anytime soon, maybe during the summer.

MX-4 is worse than the supplied CFIII paste, why would you change it?

I was told that for stress testing it was okay for the 980X to get to 90C. The stress tests that I run (OCCT & LinX) last around an hour and the CPU is not under load 100% of the time so you would not see your max core temp 100% of the time.

My highest core temp in OCCT was 76C and in LinX it was 87C.

Hopefully this answers your question.

OMG I am having the same troublesome time trying to mount it too!
