It's like you people have no sense of physics.

The GF114 core is DRIVED from the GF110. Meaning that it is the same thing, except that it has less SPs, which possibly further cuts power.

The reason the 560 Ti takes MORE power than the 460, is because it's clocked WAY higher.

Again, the GF114 was not "created" to ONLY clock higher, as opposed to lower power consumption - it is in fact BOTH.

So, my point is that they should have used GF114 cores, and not GF104 cores.

Because they have too many GF104 cores and they want to get rid of them.

A full GF104(114) die would have 384 cores, where a full GF100/110 would have 512.

They are not the same die. nVidia made refinements to the Fermi architecture with GF104/114, resulting in lower power consumption per core.

nVidia would NEVER do that.

Why would anyone take two cores and completely re-work them to lower power consumption while maintaining the same process? That is extremely difficult.

What they did was re-work the GF100 core into the GF110.

Then, they cut it down into GF114. Exactly the way they did GF104.

So yes, when I say "derived" I mean physically.

What is your problem dude? The cores are different. Nvidia refined the process and made better cores. They tweeked the lithography for a better core structure and better electron leakage control, thus better performance, less heat and higher clocks.
