Now I know that my purchase of the X750 was a good one.

I'm about to pull the trigger on one, sale ends tonight.
Should I go for it?
That's up there with Top Tier. That's the level where it's so good that anything better doesn't matter.

On purely technical terms, that's the best 550W power supply on the market, full stop, period, end of story. On the other hand, you won't notice any tangible benefit with that vs. a Corsair VX550 or the like.

That's basically what I read also. The only thing that is making me lean that way is power consumption. The way PG&E rates their service in tiers out here, the lowest possible consumption is a big plus.Besides the power savings from the PC,it may help getting an actual cheaper rate.Don't really know how much it will affect, but that's what I'm keeping in mind .Also this will be in a system drawing maybe 200w at most, but I want some future headroom. Thanks for the input, awesome as usual!

Depends on which Raidmax is in question. I specified Raidmax Hybrid. They would be merely "mediocre", except that Raidmax added an arbitrary 200W+ onto the label, on top of Andyson's already slightly overrated design.

Just because it works, that doesn't necessarily mean it's a good unit. There are no Raidmax units that come close to any top tiers like the Seasonic-X/Superflower GoldenKings.

I got a Truepower new 650w a couple weeks ago. It's a seasonic unit, somewhere around solid?

Horrible!,Never go for a "fail-win" PSU! I bough a 120mm fan and it spins a t 900rpm but 2cfm airflow! YOU WILL REGET THAT PURCHASE
