Razer Carcharias not working on Windows XP?

Thread Starter
I'm trying to help someone with their new headset. Its got a very stripped down version of win XP. I already tried downloading the Realtek audio drivers from Intel, but it didn't seem to fix anything. I tried with a USB headset and it worked, so it appears the issue is with windows not recognizing anything plugged into the 3.5mm jacks.

I really don't think the jacks are broken. When I tried plugging in the speakers they made that weird static sound, although I'm not sure that's a real sign.

Should I be looking for others drivers or something else? Audio drivers for windows? I honestly don't know what to do besides installing a full XP on it but that'd the very last resort.

Ideas anyone? Thanks in advance!

Edit- This is what I get when using vent:

Unable to activate DirectSound for selected device.
DirectSoundCaptureCreate failed. HR=DSERR_NODRIVER. No sound driver is available for use

this headsets build quality is rather cheap. All the customer reviews across the websites(majority) say that they easily break from falls, earphones stop working or the mic gets stuck on mute or just doesn't record. But for the issues to fall on a "Non detected sound" is a driver issue not the headset.
