[IHW] Samsung PX2370: LED Magic (LED Monitor Review) - Page 3

Are LEDs good monitors?

I noticed the prices are falling quite a bit on these as compared to when they first came out, which has me thinking, they may be a good deal...

I see you don't know what you're talking about.

TN < IPS
CCFL>LED

So this monitor isn't good at all. A rip off at $270. You could get a U2211H for like $250.

.....
ok i'll expand on this.

RGB-LED>CCFL>W-LED

RGB backlit displays cost thousands for a 24" display.
most 'affordable' LED backlit displays will therefore be the inferior to traditional CCFL W-LED.

TN - sucks, standard contrast
IPS - uniform image not much of a problem with gamma shifting from angles. standard contrast most are 8 bit, some e-ips panels are 6bit

VA - 3-4 times the contrast of IPS and TN, less uniform than IPS (still pretty uniform though) slower response times, some panels have black crush and gamma shifting issues from angles.

the dell U2311H is a 6bit panel, i'd recommend against it unless you want better than TN without having a slower response time (BenQs VA panels such as the EW2420 VW2420 or BL2400 are8bit and have 3 times the contrast)

there really is no reason to have really colour accurate displays at 6bit, no practical use for colour accurate displays is going to be acceptable if done on a 6bit display,
either 8bit IPS, cheap 6bit IPS if fast response time is needed along with wanting better colour and not spending a lot(gaming on higher quality monitors for example) or go with VA panels.
TNs for really low budget or if you just don't care.

You know, sometimes I just hate this attitude that people sometimes show here on OCN. You know, maybe some people just don't freakin care about the panels.
Plus, TN panels have come a long way, they are much better now then they used to be. So its not like its godawful to use one.

^ this..... My friend got that alienware monitor with 1080p 2ms 120hz 3d. And i must say for gaming it is amazing. any fps game he plays its just so smooth and silky and colours are amazing. he plays cod4 and cs at a competitive level. almost got to go on a trip last year for cs finals. Not everyone buys a monitor for its looks. maybe people dont want 8-15ms monitors with 60-75hz. think of that. i have friends that game with big crts still. because all they do is browse internet and game.

Edit: not everyone on here is rich either, some people are only 15 16 and 17, gotta think of that too. where not photo intusiast(spelling?! LOL) or co business owners lol.

No one said samsung is the best, there far from it in various catigories. But it depends what people use the monitors for. me personally i would never use a ips for gaming or what i do. i literally only browse internet listen to music and game. dont edit stuff or watch videos or tv or movies on my pc. ive seen high quality ips's. amazing but ive also seen them in the same room with buddies lanning and for PURE fps games or gaming id stick with a TN panel. Atleast at this point in time.

I'm currently looking at that new benq that as basically everything(i could need or use for years). 1920x1080. 2ms LED 3D 120hz 170 degree viewing angles adjustable screen size so if u play like coutner strike at 8x6 it isnt blurry as shi* since ur setting for deskstop is 1920x1080. plus its very sturdy has all the plugin options i could need and can be adjusteded, sideways up and down and even flip the screen.
