MSI has revealed its two laptops based on Intel's Huron River platform: the gaming-oriented GE620 and multimedia-friendly GR620. Both models have a 15.6-inch 1366x768 LED-backlit display and Windows 7 Home Premium preinstalled. Laptops weight in some 2.4kg, they include the Easy Face facial recognition software (which makes good use of the built-in webcam) and the Cinema Pro technology which tweaks the display and audio settings to ensure a better media experience. Second generation Core processor, DDR3 memory, a 320/500/640GB hard drive and a DVD or Blu-ray drive are also included.

The GR620 has Intel integrated graphics while the GE620 utilizes a GeForce GT 540M 1GB graphics card, but both have a 4-channel speaker system (backed by THX TruStudio Pro), Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a 5-in-1 card reader, two USB 3.0 ports and a 6-cell battery. MSI didn't say when the laptops would reach stores.

Seriously? What's up with laptops having lower resolutions now? I'm tired of seeing 1366x768. My mom's 5 year old laptop has a 1280x800 screen (it's not higher a resolution). It took 5 years and we are still this low?

The laptop does look nice though

i've read somewhere that samsung makes most of the 900p panels for laptops and its witholding supply or something, not sure if thats true though....I'm sure I read it up on notebookreviews forums

if the screen is bigger than 14" and res is lower than 1440x900 there is no way I would buy it.

They must be witholding them from themselves because the 9 Series is $1600 and is 1366x768, which seriously pisses me off because I want one so bad and I just cannot justify myself encouraging such idiocy.
