Some motherboards can SLI or Crossfire without a bridge right?

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the newbie question. I have this motherboard that supports one PCI-E slot at 16x and the other at 8x but they are not next to each other. There is this chip in the middle that can be switched to 16x for one card or the other side for two cards at 8x. So no bridge is required right?

Thank you

You need a bridge.

The only way with no bridge is to do hybrid xfire. (onboard gpu with card.)

You can get a bridge that will work with any spacing.

It has nothing to do the motherboard... it has to do with the drivers.

You can get a flexible ribbon SLI bridge which will fit any mobo:

Thanks for the kind answers. I've seen bridges in picture but never knew there was a flexible ribbon. Sorry I've never tried SLi or CrossFireX.

One more question. Some products come with a bridge are those flexible? or you need to purchase one?

Thanks again.

Certain products will come with long, flexible bridges, while others come with short ones or stiff ones...you can always buy them, too.

Nvidia partners generally do not supply SLI bridges with their cards, however, some ATI/AMD partners do include Crossfire bridges. Most of the time, you will have SLI bridges (and sometimes Crossfire) bundled with your motherboard as the spacing is taken into account by your motherboard's manufacturer.

The easiest thing to do is to decide which option you want to do and buy the appropriate bridge through Ebay or any other e-tailer. You may have luck finding it locally around your area, but for me, it was a mission trying to find anything like that in my area without being raped.

Some come with a bridge. Some are flexible some are not. It depends on what you get.
