[SMH] Japan Hit By 8.9 Earthquake - Page 27

They don't have time to be precise on the news here, they keep changing the topic every 2-4 mins on tv. If I'm being a nuisance tell me and I'll stop trying to type what I'm getting from my TV in Nagoya.

Ok, the guy in charge of most of the stuff concerning the relief efforts( can't translate his rank right but he is working under the prime minister) is holding another live speech

He is tired as hell

Keeps telling people to calm and to try to evacuate

He told that the kids applying for Colleges should relax since they are asking to extend the testing period( it's a pretty big deal here in japan, since there are more suicides caused by this than other stuff)

He is speaking about the reactors now...

Hey Sharaktengu, if there is anything we can do to help let us know. I created a post in off topic forum trying to get ideas on how to help people affected other than the Red Cross (money doesn’t always go where it’s needed).

Reactor 1( daiichi means no 1 and daini means no 2) is nearly 10km north of reactor 2 , and no 1 has the evacuation radius of 10 km ( it still hasn't been confirmed if all the people have left)

Reactor 2 has only a 3km evac radius and people 3-10km should stay in their houses

They didn't mention if they released the vapor yet or not

0059: Tokyo Electric Power, which runs the two stricken nuclear power plants, confirms it has released a small amount of vapour into the atmosphere to reduce pressure on one of its reactors. It tells AFP there are no health risks.
source http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12307698

"Environmental group Greenpeace tells the AFP news agency "Japan is in the middle of a nuclear crisis with potentially devastating consequences". Campaigner Jan Beranek adds: "While the immediate focus is on minimising radiation release and keeping local people safe, this is yet another reminder of the inherent risks of nuclear power."

And unfortunately greenpeace is taking the time to further their agenda while not having a clear picture themselves

They have emergency cooling ready from what i understand to prevent any meltdowns... So lets hope everything will be fine!
