[SMH] Japan Hit By 8.9 Earthquake - Page 4

I closely work everyday with Japanese colleagues. Nobody of them got hurt, even though there are several hurt persons all over Japan. Gladly, only 1 dead (sorry for him). They really have some nice anti-earthquake buildings there.
More aftershocks can be felt every half-hour or so. At least the worst seems to have already passed...

total devastation prevented due to respect of nature's power... I'm pretty sure that if it hit anywhere else in the world, tv networks would be doing a fundraiser -.-

Best of wishes to those affected directly and indirectly.

Gotta bring this one up:

If anyone's watched ancient aliens on history channel, they mention that the earth emits light at certain places (in japan, for instance) before an actual earthquake hits. this has been verified with images many times over, but I was just wondering if there's any word on it yet? it'd be interesting to know...

I used to live in California, and man, 6.7 quakes are huge to me, very violent. Can't even comprehend what an 8.9 one must be like. Ouch...

I've only felt a 5 or so when in Reno, Nevada. Pretty scary, but maybe because it was my first time.

I wanna move out of California before "the big one" happens...

Only 1 dead actually... In Japan they're prepared for earthquakes and buildings follow very strict anti-wave rules. The worrying now comes for the Tsunami...

UPDATE: News reported 19 deads at now
