The Huge Fire in Chiba has gone down quite a lot but there are still a few gas containers that haven't caught fire yet.

Shinkansens are all down so people are stuck on them for the most part

This. Actually, I went to my dad's office, and sat there watching the News, waiting for 5 to 6pm to pass. ><

As 5 was a probability of an earthquake hitting, and 6 was a Tsunami Probability. Thankfully, I live in the Center of the Philippines, surrounded by the other islands. =D

Anyways, Forgot to mention, So far so good, nothing happened here in the Philippines yet.

I'm a bit safer here; I live in Vancouver area in Surrey, well elevated and away from Georgia Strait, and additionally protected by Vancouver Island. Any tsunami probably won't hit here, but I'm worried this pattern of earthquakes lately will mean the Juan De Fuca subduction is the next to go.

watching the cars get hit by the waves from the side as they try to get away is not a good sight

3 more hours until it hits me here...shall i go to sleep, as I work at 7am? Or shall I stay up and hope my job calls me to stay home? Plus these civil defense sirens are driving me nuts!

How is it you consider the Chilean earthquake a 'catalyst'?

I'm just curious because the quake itself is the result of plates releasing energy when built up to a point it has to release. The earthquake is just the result of that released energy. It can't be a catalyst...

Yeash, and here was little me thinking the combined flooding + sudden snow/ice storm here in Ohio was bad. Perspective, eh?

Hope you waiting-for-the-tsunami folk have some luck on your side.
