4.2 on a 970 BE?

Thread Starter
I tried to use some of the bus speed instead of just multiplier like i do currently.. but it never really liked when i do that. ive noticed it usually dosent even post if i ever have the CPU - NB Frequency over 2400 (MHz) or the HT link frequency much higher than 2000 . . . i kept them lower and it posted but then when it went to boot up it stopped.. i noticed in BIOS that it wasnt even detecting one of my hard drives,
it wouldnt boot because it was giving me this message: File is possibly corrupt the file header checksum does not match the computed checksum. i was able to hit ctrl alt del. to restart.
i've attatched some pics of what my bios look like if anyone has any ideas... my current Mobo is the MSI 790 FX GD70.

I would recommend keeping below 1.5V with an x4 OC on that board due to risk of failure (usually happens >1.5V on x4)
You may need more CPU-NB voltage of course, or more CPU voltage even

Looks okay to me so far, but be sure those VRMs are cooled. Failures have happened as low as 1.45V or lower, but usually happen at 1.5 or above.

She's idling at about 41 degrees and the reading's coming from a sensor that usually reports 37 degrees when my system's geared toward the 200/208 bus speed @ 4 / 4.1ghz. i shall go for a test run.. (heheheheh)

ok.. this thing wont boot on my XP hard drive.. i'm running regular win. 7... thanks a bunch and my rep goes out to you, XD 1771 cause the swift maneuver i pulled was specifically what you said.. i raised the CPU-NB voltage by 5 and the CPU voltage to 1.5..

Why do you have ACC enabled/set to Auto? Disable it!

okay. i turned acc off.. im glad im now working with 4.2 and i even hit 4.3 today but i no matter what i do it seems like i just can't get high-end games to work with it.. someday maybe ppl can put together some sort of how- to for this chip....

i tried increasing the ht miltiplier to 2500, ... i was able to switch the fsb/dram frequency to 1:3.33. for a total of 1666 MHz.. but still wasnt able to play high end games. i was able to play Doom 3, but it was slow to start with.. i'll keep this posted if i run into any luck.
