Who's syping on my PC, why does HDD get very busy when I leave it, but stops when I..

Thread Starter
Sometimes when I leave my PC alone for a while, I can hear the HDD get very busy for awhile, and as soon as I tap the mouse, its stops.

This happens too often, and its not defragmenting/virus checking.

I will see if it happens with the internet unhooked, and soon, if it happens after a reformat, fresh install, and never being hooked to the net.

On vista I noticed this as well. Turned out to be Readyboot (not readyboost) or windows creating a system restore point.

Could be windows search indexing your drive as well, try disabling all of the above. It may also be auto defragment at a specific time.

Indeed, its most likely Indexing your system to make searches faster.
