Build Advice Sandybridge

I ended up selling my signature rig for $550 dollars to my brothers friend (not a bad return on investment) and it is time to start anew. I need your help...that's right I'm pointing at YOU...no, not you weird smelly homeless guy, the dude behind you. Anyways, I want to go with a 2500K processor, and not looking for super top of the line, something around $750-800 dollars. I would like a case would good cable management, and I am most likely going to throw on an H50 or H70 later on. (do not include in total price) I prefer Nvidia cards, maybe I'll get a GTX460 1GB, and add another one later on, but any Nvidia card you throw in the build I'll consider, and

I'm looking for a mid-tower case. I had a full tower last time, and it was just TOO big.(that's what she said! ) To give you an example, I really like the look of this case look, just would prefer more features http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119210 RAM is very important, I would prefer the fastest possible and triple channel, and I only need around 6GB's. I already have Windows 7 Professional, so no need to include the OS. As far as the motherboard goes, I don't need a $350 dollar board, I just want something that will be good for overclocking. Also, thank you to the people who take the time out to put together what they think will be a solid build.

I'd recommend a 2500k with an Asus Sabertooth ($220ish) but that might be a bit pricey, you could get a

and still be very happy at $190

For case I'm quite happy with my 690 adv. At 90 bux it has plenty of bays, a good amount of space (but I'd definitely no say TOO MUCH), lots of nice features (external hot swap bay, included 2.5" mounting bracket, removable drive cage, good toolless design, etc.) and looks neato burrito.

Some decent ram like ripjaw or something (4GB ~$40, you may want more up to you).

Lots of good PSU deals out lately, my favorite currently is the xfx 650w. $65 bucks after rebate for one of the most solid 650w products out there? Sweet. Plenty of power for almost anything you need (OCing + SLI + OCing your SLI).

And so the GPU I will recommend will be based on what you have left in the piggy bank.

$220 + $190 + $90 + $40 + $65 = 605. Gonna be a little tight, You should definitely look into a 460, maybe even a 768mb version, they still offer sweet performance for a lot less money. But scope out deals, there are often discounts that can bring 1GBs down to $130ish which would only be a tiny bit over your budget. Oops you said $750 - $800 not $700. Well I might recommend going with a 6950 2GB (flashable to 6970) then! At $250 it makes for a pretty sweet deal. They perform about the same as or sometimes better than 480s
If you only want NVidia then you can nab a gtx 560ti for about $250 also though you will lose some performance / dollar.

EDIT: You said ram is important to you, though I've not seen any evidence that it makes a huge difference (dual channel vs triple channel is the same, 1333Mhz vs 1600Mhz vs etc. the same as well), what's important to your build is that it makes you happy. Corsair makes good stuff, very well thought of and not that much more expensive at $65 for 6GB of DDR3 1600MHz. If you really really demand "the fastest" then you can go up to 2000MHz but price will really bite you at this point at $120. And like I said before you really won't get much more performance out of it in anything.

Ooh crap good thing I checked in on this thread. Just a heads-up I forgot when making my edit -- There is no triple channel support for current sandy bridge mobos!

Sowwy, looks like it's dual channel only unless you choose something other than sandy for right now
