i5 7xx turbo boost question

Hello everyone,

Somewhere on this forum (http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...ml#post8727811) i read the following regarding intel's turbo boost:

"Turbo Boost on the i5s will kick in to 22-23-24 depending on the cores in use. 3 cores = 22 2 cores = 23 and 1 core = 24. as well as 21 on all four cores (20 stock) if put under stress while below a certain temperature threshold."

I haven't been able to get any half decent information as to what that treshold is, and if, given enough cooling (say a 30C CPU load temperature) a higher than 21x boost can be be reached on all 4 cores..

Anyone more in the know?

Appreciate it!

No, the idea behind boost is that it jumps up core clocks on a few cores when more are not being utilized. To enable a greater than x21 boost on all 4 cores, just overclock your system.

I've always been able to set a x21 multi with my i5-750, regardless on the settings or temps. TB on or off doesn't matter for that matter...
I thought x21 was stock multi for i5 ?

My point is that according to the flimsy info on intel's site and others as well, there is a thermal threshold in the equation that acts in regulating Turbo Boost. I'm interested in finding out how exactly it works, i don't want to overclock just yet, as I'm not knowledgeable enough on matter.
