How to make H70 cool better? - Page 2

Make sure the fans you chose have adequate static pressure. A shroud between the fan and radiator also helps.

Meh. The Hydros are good if you dealing with a low-power CPU...but for Nehalem etc you'll get much better temps with XSPC Rasa or similar...and the Rasa doesn't cost much more than an H70+good fans.

Idk you guys might be doing something wrong I'm running 1.45v on my q6600 and it never sees over 65c on hours of prime with my h70 with stock fans and paste. 3.7ghz is no mild overclock on a q6600 that's known for making a ton of heat.

ohh shiiiieeee t u got to teach me how to do your mod, its freakin awesome!
but dont u need a supplementary pump for that? the h70's pump doesn't look like its up for that

^This - H70 is rad/pump limited - fans and new tim can get you maybe 5-6 c

i7 @ 4GHz with HT on makes much more heat than your Q6600. a few years back when I had a Q6600 I never needed anything better than Aircooling, with an i7 if you're shooting for over 4GHz with high ambient temperature you need water.

get you some liquid metal ultra TIM and some 110cfm fans
that will be as good as it gets but your still looking at only 4-8c improvement

best thing you can do is sell it and get you a rasa kit

h70 is great for stock and ok for mild oc'ing thats it

if your really going to crunch numbers go rasa or build a custom loop

My cores load at 47c-51c @ 4.5ghz... Are the i7 1366 CPU's really that hot?
yea me too...i'm getting 50C load with the H50 using push/pull
dude by the time you've bought all the extra fans and thermal paste and modded it or whatnot, you've spent enough to meet the cost of a legit loop with a better block, better pump, better rad, and so on...
the H50 and H70 were designed for a compact and easy low cost water cooling system, not for maximizing performance with a lot of parts and higher cost+difficulty; that's when you should build your own loop.
Try putting better fans/thermal paste but after that I personally think that it's not worth it anymore
