How do you test a monitor?

Hello,

I just recently got 3 U2311 monitors and would like to test if there are any defects.

Is there a comprehensive guide or a general rule in terms of testing monitors?

I was looking at calibrating it, but was a bit confused with the link provided in the guide.

The main thing to test for is dead/stuck pixels.

I am sure there are better tests than this, but this is what I found with a quick search:
