Random ''starting up'' of cooler (hyper 212+)

Ok so I recently got the cooler master hyper 212+ and at times it just goes all out, at random times that is. While I'm browsing something, or doing completely cpu unheavy things it goes up and then drops again. It does not even do that when I start a video game up or something that uses cpu juice. Only at startup and random times. Anyone know why that is ?

It's just your motherboard knocking it back down when it hits a certain temperature. If you have the fans plugged into your CPUFAN header (which it really sounds like you do), then just think of it like a thermostat. You set the temperature, to, say, 55C. Slowly the core temps rise, even when you're not going much on it. It reaches a point where the fan kicks in and knocks it back down. It's the fan control in the BIOS.

Can I somehow set it to ''constant moderate cooling'' instead of letting it build up heat ?

So if I plug it into the PSU connector instead of the MB one it wont do that ?

It would run at full speed all of the time unless you put some kind of limiter on it.

Sounds like you're in the market for a fan controller.
