Xbox headphones recommedation - Page 2

I also agree with the Turtle Beach X41 suggestion. They are an awesome pair of headphones, just be careful with them. They don't get quite as loud or powerful as some wired headphones, but the audio quality is great, the 7.1 is very effective, and the mic quality is good as well. My only warning is to make sure to buy a big pack of AAA batteries, because they eat them alive.

Another good pair whose PC version I like a lot is the Logitech F540's. They aren't 7.1, but the microphone quality is also great, and the sound quality is great too, plus they are rechargeable so you wont spend as much money on batteries. I have been meaning to pick these up for my PS3 to match the X41's I have for my Xbox.

X41's will work on xbox, ps3, and pc. I use mine for everything.

Also dont waste money on buying a ton of batterys. Just buy a 4 pack of triple A's and keep two in the headphones and two on the charger. they last me about two days before they require being swapped with fairly heavy use.

You would be much better off buying a quality pair of headphones than any of the gaming headphone crap that is sold for xbox. Get a pair of audio technica ath-ad700 cans. They have an amazing sound stage and will sound night and day better than anything turtle beach or logitech. They are around $85 and sound as good as some headphone which are twice as much. If you don't need a mic, there is no reason to get gaming headphones. I can't believe no one recommended these before. Where are the audiophiles at?

The mic portion wont work with the PS3, whereas they are 100% wireless on the Logitech's, and I plan to probably get a G930 for the PC so I'm not tied down to a wire there as well. I use the X41's for my PS3 currently, but I just cant chat with them.

Yeah, but it might be a little inconvenient to run a wire all the way to the TV when you might be sitting on a couch in your living room playing, and want to get up and grab something to eat, move around, not have the wire running over you or your arms, etc. Wireless is pretty convenient.

I personally don't like the turtle beach headphones, they sounds really shallow and don't have a ton of depth of sound to them. I have heard way better headphones for much cheaper. My razer carcharias headphones sound way better then the turtle beach cans.
they also feel very cheaply built.

I would recommend a good set like the HD 555's

have the same headphones, the Razor charchaias, and I do admit they sound better than he cheap turtle beaches, they sound nowhere near as good as the hgh end ($150-200) turtle beach headsets.
Try some X41s and youll see what I mean, theres a huge difference.

those are the ones I am comparing my headset to. The X41's sound shallow and lack bass. This was with the X41s hooked up with optical sound. They are not worth 150 or 200 dollars. You can get a pair of HD 595s for that.

Yeah but none of those headphones are wireless, thats what you're paying the premium for with the turtle beaches. If he wants wireless, turtle beach x41's work well, but if he isnt interested in wireless, your suggestions definitely work. It all depends on his price point and what he wants.
