Having a computer hobby is one of the most expensive hobbies. Anything you buy for a PC can be described as a waste of money. At times, when I buy components I do sometimes think to myself.." is there a better way to spend this money". Because at the end of the day a standard dual core and 9800gt can still play most games on medium settings.

But is so satisfying to upgarde and spec up, almost like crack. Some people like cars, others film, we like components...end of.

Back on topic, the F3 is one of the best mechanical drives on the market and loads of people on ocn use it (inc me). $5 more for the extra 500gb and performance is the best $5 you could spend.

750w is enogh for sli 460 but think long term, you might want to sli two 670 gtx (when they come out) and your psu will not be enough. PSU tend to last the longest out of all of the components, so it is better to spend $50 extra now rather than $200 more down the line to buy the one you wouldve bought.

Since you already have a 750w, why buy the same power?

Since you already have a 750W PSU I don't see why you'd buy another (unless its going bad or something), especially since you are transfering over your SLi 460s.

1TB Spinpoint F3's are nice for the price, but if you don't need the storage like you said than why waste the money? Just reuse your old drive, reformat, reinstall OS, or whatever you like here. I'm assuming any important files you can easily offload onto your 1TB external.

Good luck with your build, I'm building a new Sandy Bridge too. Hope this helps!
I had considered doing this as well but decided not to. My PSU has been rock solid but it is 4-5 years old now and I'm the type that never shuts my comp down so its been on nearly the entire time. The HDD in my current rig is a caviar blue which is also 4-5 years old and slow as can be so it needs updated. The case I'm just tired of looking at and it's cramped in their. The money really isn't a concern as much as keeping the wife happy with the price. From where she sits she sees a perfectly good computer that doesn't need updated. From where I sit I see low data transfer speeds, GPU bottlenecks, lower FPS than I'd like, and cpu instability due to chip degradation

Well said and with that 95% of my SB rig is on the way With the exception of the Nactua and the 1gb F3 everything in my original post is unchanged. You're 100% right about the PSU. There's no point in upgrading to the same thing and not leave any room for the future.

congratz bro, sandy bridge is excellent, you will have so much opening the boxes when they come. Heck, that is half the fun of buying something new...opening the box!
