Honestly if this is going to ur sons comp why even spend this much, especially since he is only 7. might want to just look into a amd 840 or less considering he wont really be playing anything thats that demanding

ah, I see. I will leave that question up to others here... I don't have any experience w/ that board. I have heard bad things w/ the 6 cores though. I'm sure the 965 will work fine--additionally, you can check out newegg reviews for that board and see what CPU people have in the comment section.

if this is for your 7 year old son, he doesn't need that much power... don't break a sweat over a 950 for him. I'm also assuming it will be run at stock speeds...

People using the board w/ 6 core w/o problems... then again, people have reported problems when passing higher than normal voltages to the chip.

Hey .... before i continue...i know i havent posted anything on here but...i had the 870a Fuzion for a week with the 1075T and during OC i cooked the NB and killed the board. no overvolt just hashed it up to poor cooling combo between the board and case. Since then i up'd to my current specs. I will say however that the 1075T performed great though the numbers escape me, i was able to run PS CS5 and play a multitude of games at max. I must admit though that the Marvell raid controller on that board is fantastic. If its for your kid. the 1075T and 8Gb of RAM none of which OC'd is perfect.

its going in your 7 year olds pc. sub $100 athlon will more than likely be more than adequate.
3.0ghz quad for $100
3.1ghz triple for $77

both will play any game a kid would want. bonus if the triple unlocks to a stable quad.
