Help with 945 OC

Thread Starter
Ok so I have read a few posts where others have this same chip 945 c2 and have seen some decent clocks. I have tried these settings but to no avail, I keep hitting a wall somewhere. This is my first OC so I have been reading and pretty sure I got the basics but who knows. There is so much to learn and hope some of you guys could help me further. This is where i am at.
Attachment 199579
I read another post that had the same board and chip as me but those settings did not work.
cpu/ht 222 to give me 3330 cpu
cpu/nb I had to bring down to x8 for 1998
Hyper T same at x8 for 1998 as well
I do have My voltages raised a little from before to see if it would help stable everything out. But it did not.
cpu v 1.35v
cpu/nb 1.25v
I also tried to put my memory at the rated settings of 8-8-8-24 and 1600 with 1.65v but when I do i get BSOD with memory management error.

The settings that I tried from the other post was a cpu/ht @ 240 but it also said to keep the cpu/nb frequency at 2400 which I thought was supposed to be kept around the 2000 range. But even with the 240 and the cpu/nb lowered with a x8 multi still wont boot windows fully. I get to the login screen and enter in and it freezes so I figure that I am close. Hope someone can point me in the right direction. If you need any other info let me know and I will get it for you. My info on my rig should be up to date. Thanks in advance guys.

c2 doesnt like running 4 dimms as well as the c3 vers
you can raise the rav v to ~1.75v
set its timings to 9-9-9-24 til you get it stable

keep the ht link around 2000, 1.2v

the h50 may be a little weak for it clocked up too high
how are the temps at 3.33ghz
max is 62c, keep it under 55c for stability
1.55v

Thanks for the response. My temps under load bounce back between 41 and 42. Would you suggest I switch ram to 2 4gig dimms versus the 4 2gig dimms? I am definitely not looking for 4.0 or nothing but 3.5 or 3.6 might be nice. I will give those a try and see what I come up with. How do my current voltages for cpu and cpu/nb sound to you? Also on the subject of memory, I have seen many state that since amd runs at 1333 native that that is what should be tried to keep it around. Should I also aim for 1333 versus the 1600 or will loosening the timings to your suggested values help stabilize the ram at the 1600 values? I am going to try those settings now and see what happens.

Ok I adjusted those settings and this is what I have now.
cpu fsb 227 with a 15 multi for 3405
cpu/nb x9 for 2043
HT x9 for 2043
Ram timings changed for 9-9-9-24 with the voltage upped to 1.7 for now.

Boots windows fine. Run prime and I get errors on core 1 and 2 in 2 minutes.

give it a little more core v
and watch the temps
more core v = more heat

also disable c1e and cool & quiet in bios

will try upping th voltage a bit and see if that helps. c-n-c and c1e are already disabled. One more question. I do not know how to see the logs from prime. I would like to see them to check out the errors that are being thrown out there can you tell me how to view these or enable them to be viewed? Sorry for such a stupid question as I am sure it is a pretty simple process. Thanks again

Hey amd dude thanks man. And yes it has been quite frustrating so far. Been pretty close to just tossing it out the window. But I am going to stick it out. I had some other work to do so have not had a chance yet but will be back within the hour and will be working on it. I will definitely try and get in touch with your buddy as well. I know I am close. And that 3.8 sound nice. I wouldn't mind that one bit but would be happy with 3.5 or 3.6. I really appreciate the lookout and will touch back here shortly when I get back.

to see prime95 error log
its results.txt in the same folder as prime95.exe
post #10 of 10
When I clocked that exact same chip on that same MB, I hit 3.8Ghz stable at 1.48v. That's pretty much all I remember, it's been too long But I know I did it with two DIMM's, and my NB was around 2.7Ghz. You don't want to use the 62C as the maximum, I was getting errors with 55C, so the lower the better. I could try clocking it that high again, but I'd have to stick my tower in the window again As far as I can tell, the 785 and 790 chipsets have a 4+2 power phase, not something I'm proud of. C&Q will disable automatically, just keep the RAM and HT as close to stock as possible. NB overclocking will provide a huge boost though, more then most people think.

Btw, C2's suck Lol.
