DIY: TriMonitor Stand

Thread Starter
After looking around for a stand for my Crossfire setup, and getting discouraged at the relatively high costs, I decided to build my own! And you can too! This DIY is by no means comprehensive, rather, it's a brief outline of how I built mine, and is hopefully helpful/ inspirational to you too!

Step 1: Initial Planning

Figure out what you need from your setup. SO, how close should the monitors be to your face? What's an ideal height? What's the best angle for the side monitors? This part is fun, envision and write down what you want.

Step 2: Initial Draft

This is where you take your ideas and make them more concrete. I used SketchUp, but whatever software you feel the most comfortable with. Measure everything, work out dimensions, and watch your stand take form.

Step 3: Construction!

Since there was already spare MDF in the garage, all I had to purchase was hinges and metric bolts for the VESA mount ... and beer ... so my total cost was ~ $30. Not so bad.

Step 4: Mount to desk, enjoy!

I'll post some final, proper pics soon, I am currently adjusting one monitor ... as the Samsung 2343BWX is just a few MMs longer from bezel to VESA mount (and otherwise exactly the same dimensions as my other two Samsung 2343s rolleyes.gif )

There you go! Hope this helps/ inspires wink.gif

If you ever decide to pre-fab this as a side business, let me know! I don't have access to the right tools to do this but the price definitely has my attention.

Nice job. I am building a desk unit to house PC components and phase unit soon out of the spare MDF in my garage as well.

Heh smile.gif Not going to happen ... I lead a busy life, and my friends Mike and Kevin helped with the woodwork (as I am no master-craftsman myself). Bear in mind of course, that, for me, there was spare MDF around, so you would have to consider that cost for yourself.
