BBC2 problem

Thread Starter
I remember this being talked about some time ago. I can't play BBC2 overclocked. I couldn't on my alienware and now my new build. It freezes up. If I down clock under 4.0 I'm fine . I can play any other game at 4.2 oc and never miss a beat.

Is there a fix for this. Thanks

Probably not stable. I can do anything on my CPU when it's unlocked to 4 cores, but BFBC2 has texture flickering when that 4th core is enabled.

Sounds strange.. I run BC2 on my 950 @ 4.24 no problem

What tests are you running?

Have you tried memtest86? If that passes try IBT at Max settings... If they both pass and you can play at 4.0 but not higher I am down right confused

So, have you ran Prime95? Custom settings? 3.2-3.4gb of RAM? For 12 hours? And 15-25 runs of IBT, max memory?

I'm telling you. It's unstable. If lowering the clockspeed fixes the problem, there is no other answer. There is _nothing_ preventing BFBC2 from running on a 4.2ghz CPU.

I did run prime 95. Not for sure what IBT is. Did some research on this problem and talked to some guys I play with.

I OC my computer 4 or so days ago with the 4.2 setting I have. For 3 days I played BBC2 with no problems.Same server diffrent server, with no problems.I replaced my DVD drive with a new one and the first time I played BBC2 it froze.Thinking I had a bad drive I put the old one back in. Tryed to play BBC2 and froze the same way.All this time I had the same OC setting.

From my research the only conclution that I or the folks I talked to came up with is some how the hardware change I made (DVD drive)caused the ( I not for sure what you would call it )security, game setting in the game now beleives I have made a change it don't like.

I was told by a couple of people that Dice don't like hardcore gamming.

I will just go back to setting I can play with.

BC2 is just really, really sensitive to overclocking. More so than any other game or test program.

Exactly. I actually test my overclocks with BFBC2. I run intelburn test, then a little of prime95 then game for a few hours. BFBC2 wrecks havoc on just about everything. I figure if I can game with my overclock for a few hours without issue I'm golden. So far so good.

OK...Just an update here. I ran the intelburn test. 2 times 5 runs on standard and 2 times on high and passed every time at the said OC..Will most likley try higher settings tommorow. I was told this is a very reliable test.I s that true.

On the other hand I tried BBC2 of default setting and it froze also. So I don't think its the computer,I think I may have a bad disk.

Is there away to play without the disk.
