Need PSU - Page 2

My budget is around 80$.

What would be the best unit? I don't want a seriously overkill 750w+ psu.

I switched from Antec to Corsair and I'm so happy I did. I had two antec CP-850s crap out on me in 8 months of use. I switched to corsair and I haven't had a single problem. I've read reviews on a lot of the corsair models over at Johnny Guru and the GS series from corsair aren't bad for the price.

I'm not sure if you have a Micro Center near you but the GS600 is going for 79.99 right now.

The CP-850 is an excellent power supply. You got unlucky.

Maybe this?

Of course. I wouldn't recommend something I wouldn't use myself.

Alright, thanks.

2 x 5770's@ 107w(full load) each = 214w
Power=Voltage x Current
Current = Power / Voltage = 214w / 12V= 17.8A total <--Amount needed min on PCI-e 12V Rail

1x 1055t@ 125w(stock Full Load) =125w
Power=Voltage x Current
Current = Power / Voltage = 125w / 12V= 10.4A total

Just need to know your CPU cooler those things suck power like a @(^*@$

Stop saying that in every thread or I'll call you out on it.

You're pretty much right though, except that CPU coolers are rarely power hungry unless you're using high-RPM (>3000RPM) fans or a TEC.

You typically won't see quite that much with typical case fans. 800-1400RPM are usually no more than .5A each, up to 2000-2400RPM you might see 1-1.25A. This is actual draw, not what may be printed on the label. Plus most cases have only 2-5 case fans. Seven is unusual.

So only way you get 100W is with multiple relatively high RPM fans.
