AMD w/ multi GPU...

Eh guys. Sorry if this has been posted but my searches seem overly ambiguous to get tangible results.

I'm used to overclocking intels and with multi-gpu configurations I know that I can go right to the IOH (Northbridge setting) and bump it up a certain amount to give the video cards some extra juice... 1.15 for 2, 1.20 for 3... maybe a bit more for 480s.

I'm trying to help someone out with his system crashing and he has 3 cards folding... I have a feeling that they're not getting enough juice to run all together- though all his cards have passed stability testing on their own.

He's running an MSI AM3 style board (MSI NF980-G65 AM3), and I'm pretty sure it's all GTX 460s, currently running stock but he would like to overclock.

From what I've been reading, the NB, CPU-NB and CPU-NB VDD are not at all related to the IOH feature in the Intel Bios. Seems NB is for the RAM communication voltage control, CPU-NB is integrated memory controller and I think VDD (?) was the chipset itself and for overvolting the other two. Yes, I'm confused.

Anyway, quite simply- what needs to be adjusted to put three video cards in and run smoothly? What setting needs to be adjusted and would bumping up NB have the same effect as IOH?

Thanks in advance.

How is his power supply? Maybe he isn't quite getting the juice he needs.

Does he have enough physical memory? 4GB might not be enough since each card maps memory.

CPU-NB is the memory controller, and it will help to raise this to at least 2600mhz and may need a voltage bump. NB is just the chipset, adjusting this voltage usually won't help anything.

He had 1000w psu so that isn't the problem. He is also running 6 gigs of 1600 stuff, so that shouldn't be a problem. The ram checks out with memtest86 also.

Is there no equivalent setting?!
