Very hard. There are tutorials in game that go through most of the important systems. But to really have an understanding and thus making it easier to remember what is what, you should really read the 600 page manual. You don't have to read everything. In fact you could probably skip the 100 pages on Control Display Unit (CDU), as it just covers a load of crap you will probably never need. That is the hardest part, getting through the manual.
Once you do that, the game becomes very rewarding. It may take you a number of days to become comfortable with the start-up and take off procedures. But once you do, you will be left with a great sense of accomplishment. Then another few days learning the weapons systems. Which is even more rewarding.
