BFBC2, 5850, 11.2, hard crash after 20 minutes of gameplay - Page 5

If any of you are still having issues, forcing the game to run on 3 cores instead of 4 seemed to help with stability for me back when I had time to play. I will definitely be fooling around with this again in about a month so hopefully it was just Afterburner lol

mine did that.

here's what fixed it

exit afterburner
exit sapphire trixx
exit any oc-ing software

it's somethign to do with the punkbuster update.

i tried turning off afterburner at first- but still had problems

then i tried trixx and it fixed it.

Thats the sound alright, but on my rig it only lasts for 2-4 seconds, and then it needs a reset, and it does happen around 20min in.

And it definitely only started around monday after I got this 6950 and installed 11.4

However, last weekend I was installing a bunch of games, in preparation for the new card, that messes with the DX drivers.

In BC2 I use DX11 of course. I might see if I can update that too.

Just had 3 crashes in a row, all about 20m in.

Friday-saturday was a big hangover day, so I played for pretty the whole time, on my 5670, no crashes at all.

I guess you could try the ground up approach: running the game with absolutely the bare minimum. Sound card disabled, no AV, no firewall, video on DX9 on the lowest settings, nothing running in the background. If it runs, then you can start adding on things bit by bit to find the problem. If it doesn't run, then you can start looking at your hardware. However, if all other software (including games) runs fine, then this is curious.

In addition to what Kick mentioned above: I had the same issues (BFBC2 freezing ingame, occasional BSOD's) on my i7-950 / ATI HD6950 rig. Closing OC-ing software wasn't quite enough: you should also close any monitoring software like GPU-Z, HW-Monitor etc. That was the trick for me since the Punkbuster update. I've been playing several sessions of + 3 hours without any isuues since
