Closing OC-ing software wasn't quite enough: you should also close any monitoring software like GPU-Z, HW-Monitor etc. That was the trick for me since the Punkbuster update. I've been playing several sessions of + 3 hours without any isuues since
Same thing worked for me. The only thing I can leave running while I play BC2 is a folding client and CoreTemp.

That's odd. As long as I close to AB bfbc2 runs for hours.

I'm using Afterburner 2.1.0 with overclock on my 5850, 11.4 preview drivers, Overdrive OFF and I don't crash to desktop.
Using 2 screens but playing on 1.

Not sure if you're serious.....

I use DX11 and CCC 11.4, and know I've run HW-Monitor and FRAPS since I fixed prob.

Closing trixx and MSI-ab worked for me, haven't tried each separately yet, don't need them for BC2

EDIT:

I just played with GPUZ 0.5.2 running, and I had a 20m in buzz/freeze/reset crash

Thread Starter
I have closed every possible monitoring problem before running BFBC2 but it still crashes.
are you using realtek integrated sound? if so go to properties and set sound quality to 16bit CD quality. That was the cause of my issues. Another fix that people have claimed works is go into the configuration file and set speaker count to =1.

Hate to revive this thread, but this problem has been causing me to lose sleep over the past few days.

It appears the problem isn't limited to ATI/AMD cards, as it happens on my system with and without SLI. (At one point, I did have an ATI card installed?)

As long as GPUz isn't running the game is fine. As others said, CoreTemp is fine, but GPU-z causes the system to hardlock and go to a gray screen within 20 minutes of playing.

Anyone found a work around?
