250 $ for a -p67- mother board ??

post #1 of 9

hello everyone ,
i read like tons of articles and reviews and my conclusion returned with "SYNTAX ERROR"
i really can't set a decision

can it be ASUS Delux ? no ? Pro ? what about Sabertooth !!
should i got for Gigabyte ? MSI is cheaper !!! then how about EVGA ? or shall we return back to where i bought the processor i.e intel extreme mobos ??
DAH !!

i need help !
i'm not gonna use SLI feature for now , maybe i'll use a dedicated card for Physx nothing more ...
i'm attending to use the mobo particularly for artificial intelligence training => which mean full 100% load over the processor and the RAMs for weeks or months ..
so , cooling and heavy duty ability are at highest priorities
OCing ability is the second most important feature
other features like 700 USBs/SATA3/PCIe are preferred but not essential

need help suggesting a good mobo (budget 250$ max) *P67* and WHY ?
thanks for your time

Delux out of those options, has the most features, as far as I know none of them will differ in life span or reliability. I do have to ask, why use a desktop board for this? you should really be using a server board for 24/7 operation, although not essential. May I ask, what's AI training? curious

We should start by what CPU your planning to use :O Just so the sockets match

I would say: Gigabyte X58A-UD3 for around 200 right now, Sabertooth X58 for around 200
Both great boards for 1336 socket cpus

@PEACEPCF
yes i should be using servers , but the problem is the project's budget is the restricting point
and regarding what is artificial intelligence , it's kinda huge term about how to make the computer understand and react , as for example in a chess game or war games , the same strategy could be used in medical researches to make the computer solely understand the diseased parts and write it in reports , these reports have great benefit for the medical stuff to reach a conclusion in real time
the same thing is used for the financial markets and many other fields
and simply the training is like as for human , you train the kid to speak , so he can speak and form sentences which may turn into hypothesis and at the end it reach for self awareness and take solely decision (ahm , no we are not making Terminator in real life )
thanks

@Rakhasa
the socket is 1155 "SB" and goin to upgrade to IvyBridge next year (over the same socket as my knowledge)
is it beneficial to go for 1336 instead ?
thanks

@Sin0822
i noticed that and edited
thanks

What if this turns into skynet...
But seriously get the board with the most power phases you can if you want to ensure a high overclock.
So I'd be looking at the UD5 or P8P67 Deluxe on your budget...power phases of 20 and 18, respectively. Sabretooth is only 8+2...

Only 3 boards will work for you IMO

Maximus IV Extreme
UD7
WS Revolution

only these boards will run SLI at 2x16

With in your budget the best board would be the UD5

actually SLI at 8x/8x on SB is supposedly faster than 16x/16x with nf200, the added latency is only good for 3 way SLI and screen resolution over 1900x1400
