AMD Athlon II x3 435 was unlocked now not??

Thread Starter
So I was fiddeling with settings in the bios for some overclocking a year later after unlocking the 4th core before. The computer hung up, i pulled the plug. Then it would boot up but no video and would just run but not display so i reset CMOS and now works. However it reverted back to the x3 435 Athlon and not the Phenom like before. I changed the bIOS setting to unlock core however still nothing!!!!

Did you try upping the voltage?
Kinda dangerous to up voltage on an MSI board though.

Well upping the voltage sometimes increases the chance of you unlocking that core.
But the core was locked for a reason and isn't guaranteed to unlock.

What voltage would I be looking for? And also why would it all of a sudden fall off liek that I know I was messing with voltage and freq but then I did one setting to auto in 90 seconds and hung up...

It is a cheap 4+1 board. I really don't recommend unlocking because the processor is already 95W TDP at stock.

IS there anyway to get that core back? It has been stable for over a year with no problems with the 4th unlocked.

Another weird little quirk is that is displays Phenom II in the startup MSI screen.

And secondly after it reverted back I now cannot see almost all of my system tray icons in the bottom right, I can only see volume and logmein. However the spaces for the other programs are there but there is no icon or it is not clickable.

Looks like a defective core.
Raise voltage little by little.
Do not raise TOO much cause that's an MSI board and it might fry.

But...as the quote in xd's sig states,
