Quick noobie question on connecting my PC to my 48" plasma

Thread Starter
Alright so I got bored and I decided to connect my PC to my Plasma TV. I forgot how big it is and I'm too lazy to measure it so I just threw out a random guess so please don't flame me. I connected via VGA btw. But I tried changing my resolution on my desktop but it only could go max 1024x768. Is there a way to make my resolution larger?

This is how it looks like,

VGA, hrm, VGA may be a preprogrammed into the Plasma to auto set to that resolution, go through the menu and see if there is some settings re: the difference Source options, also try and hook up via DVI or HDMI, those may be more reliable in producing a high resolution image.

Oh and Fyi just so your aware fully, Plasma's DO I repeat DO burn in, so be careful.

Oh alright, I'll go pick up a HDMI cable tomorrow at a local electronics store, unless you know where I could find it for cheap.

Sometimes it happens when I connect netbook to my monitor. Re-connecting it usually solves the problem.

Lol so I was messing with the CCC VGA settings, and now my TV lost signal cause the resolution didn't fit I'm guessing. How do I fix this? I tried restarting and it didn't fix anything. But it does show up the boot up screen and everything, just when it gets on the desktop it loses signal.

You'll need to bring it up on another screen unfortunetly, TV's are picky, thats generally why display changes have that 15 second count incase of that situation, but you must have pressed Left + Enter to complicate things.

Well if you hook it up via HDMI it may auto detect, depends what resolution you tried to set it too, DVI I know will auto detect but HDMI can vary from my experience just since its so much more then a video signal.

I realize this is two weeks old, but newer PLASMA'S DO NOT BURN IN, unless you have a 10 year old PLASMA, that might be a different story. They might have image retention, but that completely different, it usuasly clears on its own after a few minutes of watching TV. The other thing is that yes it is possible to BURN IN a new plasma, however you have to leave the TV on for days on end, not hours.
