Best CPU cooler for 1155? - Page 2

the best are THERMALRIGHT ARCHON and the THERMALRIGHT SILVER ARROW
post #12 of 28
Archon if you got 2 fans, otherwise as a single, not as good as SA/D14. Costs more to get another TY-140 for the archon too since it only comes with 1.

Thread Starter
I like the suggestions . I don't believe the silverarrow will fit into the FT02 as I believe I read somewhere around these forums. I'll have to check.

Basically right now, if the op wants to stay in budget, the D14 for $75 is his best option. If he wants to spend a little more, going for a 2 fan Archon is probably the best option at around ~$90 or so.

[edit] The SA should fit in a FT-02, I know the D14 could, and they're practically identical in design and size.
here's a picture i searched from google, looks like it'll fit, though no fans on it but it should nonetheless (this being the D14)

SA in FT-02 or RV-02? i mix em up

Shipping is reasonable.

Use code hard3411e for $8 off, to make the price $66.99 + shipping (thanks yakuzapuppy)

CrazyPC appears to be the same price but charges more for shipping.
This.

Like the OP said - if it gets him better temps, he'll spend the extra money.

And we're talking 15$ max here.. what's the big deal?

Heck, I say get an H70.

EDIT: Post 999!!!

I'm not posting again... ever. So don't ask me to.

H70 costs more and some say it's a few C worse or equal to the D14/SA. H70 would be worth it if Op doesn't want so much space used up in the case.

In the end it's up to the Op, you can't go wrong with either. Since if you OC with SB, voltage is more of a restricting factor than heat. Even cheaper coolers like the 212+ can push 4.5ghz 2500k or 2600k with it. But say you get water cooling, the chip hits a certain wall and might be hard to get past 4.7ghz or so.

Now how do these stack up against the megahalem rev. B?
Cooling difference is very minimal depending on the type of fans you use with the Mega Rev B...It's not like you are going to do flips if you compare the results.

And if you're considering the H50/H70, you might as well stick with a top-tier heatsink...unless space is an issue.
