[Androidized] Toshiba Tablet to Be Better than Ipad 2 and Competitively Priced - Page 3

Release a 4GB Wifi only version with a SD slot for $200 and I'll buy it instantly.

But that's what Archos wants to do, and I doubt Toshiba will price it so >_> So meh

First of all just for the sake of "free market" alone, I pick the Toshiba.
Lets get some healthy competition going and lower this market!
Throw in the better;
I/O
replaceable battery
faster hardware
flash
Ect Ect Ect.

It should be clear, The Toshiba is better for its features. The Elitist Apple fanboys need to ****H!

The flash argument bugs me. So much flash content relies on rollovers. It's pretty hard to imagine working with these mouse rollovers with my finger when my finger acts as a click...

I really just don't think so. We'll see how well Flash content runs on the Xoom here shortly. I truly don't believe it'll be like a desktop experience though like you all seem to think. But I could be wrong.

Where do you get your information from?

Just google 'iPad Enterprise Adoption'...And no one here gives a rats behind about the enterprise adoption rate anyway. No average consumer does. Most prosumers don't either.

I mean, I love talking tech with people, but when you flat out pull stuff out of your rear-end just for the sake of making an argument, or some nonsensical anecdote to make a point, it gets annoying.

wat?

You realize the iPad 2 has much more functionality than any other tablet on the market? And it's cheaper than most...

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

I worked at Futureshop(Canada's BestBuy) during christmas and sold around 80 iPads, and bought one myself (I eventually sold for $$ because I'm a starving student). I also was able to sell a Samsung Tab when it arrived too but I tried using it and went on a few flash sites, wow what a lagfest. I just had to say "Steve told you so". No, I'm not Apple fanboy, but I like apples take on things sometimes.

I think the iPad 1 lacked functionality, but the iPad 2 screams value.

I can't wait to see what the Toshiba brings. The only reason I'd hesitate about it is it might not get much community support. Still, looks awesome. Hope the battery life is good.

As for being better than the iPad, well, that comes down to personal preference. The iPad is an amazing device, but the OS isn't for me. Who knows, iOS 5 may fix that.

iPad 2 is a trade off in functionality. Or are you forgetting that Android 3.0 has hardware accelerated flash, many 3.0 tablets have USB host, HDMI, etc? Right now, the iPad has things like air play that android tablets don't have. As for apps, the iPad is the clear winner, but how long till android tablets have gotten to the point of having all the apps they really need? A galaxy tab is not something to use as an indication of android tablets.

Give someone 10 minutes on a Honeycomb tablet and they'll forget what an iPad even is.
I work at Best Buy and have played with both the iPad 2 and the Xoom. As much as I am a hardcore PC fanboy, and love Google, there is not a single tablet on the market that is as good as the iPad. They built a perfect operating system for their device. Its much more responsive than any other tablet, even and especially Android 3.0, which I am relatively disappointed with. The app support is better, it is thinner, it performs better, it has a better screen, it actually has accessories available for it, etc, etc, etc. If there is anything Apple has made to where there is not a single serious competitor for, and will probably never be now that they have established themselves the way they have, its the iPad, the iPhone, and the iPods.

Go to any retailer, and compare how many different options as far as accessories there are for any mp3 player other than the iPods. Go find any other mp3 player that looks as sleek, feels as sturdy, performs as responsively, lasts as long as far as battery life, is as simple to sync, etc, etc, etc. Same idea behind the iPad.

Yeah, they do cut out some customization, and that sucks. But they have an amazing tablet and there is really no competition. I am no Apple fanboy by any means, I am a hardcore PC user. But I am humble enough to give credit where credit is due, and Apple has made a badass tablet to which there really is no competition is almost every single criteria, except for maybe flash support, customization of the OS(other than jailbreaking) and options such as adding memory, etc.

I have customer walk in every singe day, and our iPads are displayed right next to our Xoom, Galaxy Tablet, Cruz Tablet, Archos Tablet, and every single time people prefer the iPad unless they are cheap or on a budget, or have some deep-seeded and unwarranted dislike of Apple.

$580 for iPad2 3G is still cheaper than the competition. $450 for WiFi only.
Internal specs of competitors might be better but the usability and availability of quality apps is more important. The only real competition is Android equipped tablets and even still, it will take 6+months to get enough apps out to even think about using one for the general populace.

I played with the Xoom and Android 3.0.... and personally, I like the OS better. The iPad feels/is a phone OS scaled to tablet form factor. Honeycomb feels desktop scaled to a tablet form factor. Tab browsing and desktop applications just feel more functional.
Once again...
