I need to build another PC

Thread Starter
My friend told me that his specifications were that the Processor had to be 1055T and that the GPU had to be 6950 2GB.

So now I'm in a ditch here because I have really, really, REALLY bad part choosing skills.

I can't build a computer for crap. I really can't.

He wants it to be as cheap as possible.

He will not plan to Crossfire, and he wants a 1TB 7200 HDD.

He also says he wants a good PSU, not those crappy ones that break in 5 months.

I have low knowledge of parts, and I'm actually really bad at this stuff. So I thought that maybe you guys can help me.

Here's basically what he said: Doesn't matter what the case is, the mobo has to be decent, good PSU, 1055T Thuban, 1TB 7200 HDD, at least 4GB of RAM, 6950 2GB.

We live in Canada so if you help us please use the newegg.ca

If you can help us choose our parts it would be highly appreciated! XD

Thank you!
Any help is appreciated!

ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AM3 $120 - $10 rebate card. $12.24 s&H
1055T $180 + $5 s&h
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 1600 cas9 1.5v $47 + $10 s&h

It's so little!

You guessed right badwrench
Shop at NCIX; local pickup in Vancouver/Toronto area, or otherwise I consider them the best store in Canada. Price match, awesome deals during sales, great service & support as always. I shop here and know this store inside-out. Here's a suggestion:

1055T + ASUS M4A87TD EVO - $270
2x2 Ripjaws X 1600 CL9 - $40 (You should consider stepping up to the Ripjaws CL7-8-7 for 55 PM though; low timings or higher speed is important to leverage a solid state drive)
NZXT GAMMA - $46.95 price match
Antec Truepower 650 - $70, $40 AR
XFX 6950 2GB -

, $234 AR (or buy it off Amazon, free shipping)
LG 24X DVD - $15
Vertex 2 50GB SSD - $95 (You might also be interested in Vertex 2 80GB - $150 -$25 gift card included)
Seagate 1TB 7200.12 - $50

Subtotal for this: $851, $791 AR (-$95 if you don't buy the SSD) + shipping

From CrazyPC (50% off all orders above $10):
TRUE - $20
Rexflow 96CFM fan - $6 for two in push pull
Shipping might be expensive on top of this but worth it

Subtotal for this: $26 + shipping

TOTAL: $877, $817 AR + shipping

Thanks for the reply guys!

Can these parts support OC? If not can you possibly modify it to fit OCing?

Sorry :<

And thanks for the replies!
The M4A87TD EVO is a great board to OC x6 on
And the TRUE is a great cooler as well!

The difference with this board is that it uses a good over current protection and split phasing from a 4+1. I think it'd not be as bad as the situation with MSI - apparently they combine their NIKOS MOSFETs with a 2+1 channel PWM controller (with split inductors) and poor current protection techniques.

If worried, then grab a set of $10 ($5 after 50% off) Swiftech MOSFET heatsinks from CrazyPC. Shouldn't require any additional shipping cost if they ship it all in the same box.

Probably doesn't matter if he isn't overclocking. It is my opinion if the guy is having you build a pc for him, he really shouldn't be overclocking.... just my opinion... what does everyone else think?
