Improve airflow with side panel

Thread Starter
I posted probably few weeks ago how I could improve the airflow in my 3d aurora case.

http://www.overclock.net/case-mods-g...ora-570-a.html

I did some modding like changing stock fans to highspeed YL (with led though) and improving the overall intake of air (removed the HD trays and put a tunnel). I currently have the clear side panel on and so far I love it but my GTX 295 is idling at 64C even with the additional AZENX Slot cooler below it.

I know the GTX 295 is dumping heat inside my casing so I figured I would additional fan right beside it buti have no intention punching a hole on my side panel to put an exhaust.

I thought of:

A)RED ARROW. 120mm fan horizontally on the floor of the case that will push air from the VC up to the rear exhaust fans

B)YELLOW ARROW. 120mm fan at 135 degrees facing the fins of the videocard blowing air to the VC at the same time pushing it out of the open rear slots.

What do you guys think?

Cut holes on the bottom of the case for 2 120mm fans.Cut out that hole in the front of the case for a 120mm fan put all the fans you cut out as intake should help temps considerably.Unless your ambients are really high.

I already have a 120mmYL fan in front of the case See the carbon tunnel? It's connected to that. Hmmm good idea on cutting holes on the bottom case... i might consider heheh.

Anything else?

If you can remove the window perspex, replace with some tight mesh and mount fans on that?

I find trying to cool any dual PCB cards with extra fans is near on impossible without going water.

Yeh cutting a hole in the bottom of the case would be a good idea, use a 120mm hole saw, and some U channel molding to finish the job off, you may have to have the case feet out as they will block the fan,.. the down sides to cutting a hole on the bottom is that all the components will have to come out, and you will have to be sure that u get all the metal shavings out the case before putting the components back in.

Could you getto a fan to other end of that tube to push the air in to the gtx at a higher rate

You already have plenty of exhaust, I second the bottom intake. If you can, see if a 140mm will fit (more air, less noise). Also, put some large case feet on when you do to allow more air in.

Have you tried removing that slot fan and checking your temps? If you add the bottom fan, I would remove it.

I had the metal mesh before, but like I said I kinda like how it sits right now, returning to mesh or probably getting a new plexi so I could punch a whole through it would be the last resort.

@andrew: you mean turn the front fan higher rpm or getting another fan at the end of the tube?

@badwrench: actually I had the slot cooler 2 pci slots lower before but this set up helps cools it, at least the lower pcb, by let say 1 to 2 degrees cooler

I will first try to have a fan blowing inside my case and see if that helps, if not then probably I have no other means of cooling the GPU
