I have decided to follow the advice of getting a 6950. Going to return one and get my money back and sell the other one.

Thanks for all the help.

Even though i decided to go 6950 im still curious. How come when CF I get insanely low fps (max. 20 fps) in Crysis 2 and Dragon Age 2 when I have vsync DISABLED and get solid 60 fps when I have vsync ENABLED? I'm used to it being the other way around with my single gpu setup.

your situation is similar with mine: 4850 cf@x16/x4.

my thoughts regarding this issue:
1. the x16 pci-e 2.0 is WAY faster than the x4 pci-e 1.0.
2. while crossfire both GPU always try to BALANCE the load on both cards.
3. with an uneven pci-e speed, the faster operating GPU will balance itself (decrease speed) to the slower operating GPU to sync the crossfire.
4. the uneven pci-e bandwith issue becomes more apparent in more demanding games and higher res such as 1920x1080p.
5. thats why when you turn off crossfire you get better performance, there's no load balancing when running a single GPU.

solution: get a x16/x16 pci-e mobo.

My mobo should have this:

"1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (single at x16), 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots (@x4 mode, 2.5GT/s)" Which should mean that the 4x lane is 2.0 aswell, if i'm not mistaken.

However, all this still doesn't explain why my FPS is way higher when I enable Vsync.

what read is that from? try GPU-Z read.

what software do you use to monitor your fps?

Well if it's 4x 2.0, it should effectively have the bandwidth of 1.0 @ 8x.
well, let see....

I have 2 different reads:

GPUZ:
1st gpu: PCI-E 2.0 x16 @ x16 2.0
2nd gpu: PCI-E x16 @ 4

Everest reads:
1st gpu : PCI Express 2.0 x16 @ x16
2nd gpu : PCI Express 2.0 x16 @ x4

which one is legit?

Asus specs:

1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (single at x16)
1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots (@x4 mode, 2.5GT/s)

http://www.asus.nl/product.aspx?P_ID...RFZ&templete=2

I use gpu-z which says:

First gpu: 16x 2.0
Second gpu: 4x 1.1

Is this just bad advertisement by asus?
