6970 vs. GTX570 - Page 5

To be honest with how close they are in performance I would buy whichever you can find the cheapest. Either definitely will not disappoint you, but the performance gap is so small finding whichever is cheapest is the best option in my opinion.

I will also offer you a another point of view on that...though my guess you will ignore it... Is it because you spent so much on the nvidia GPU that you feel obligated to hold onto it longer since you paid so much for it??...I still do not notice alot of 8800Ultras for sale in the OCN marketplace...why is that??...Is it because when it came out it retailed for approx 600-700USD?? would you resell that for a fraction of the price to upgrade?? While with ATI you had slightly less performance for a lesser price and you were willing to let the card go, for a lesser price, when one can add a little more money for more performance??

you want to know the reason why i stick with nvidia over ati?

one word: linux
So you are a fanboy...but you are merely a fanboy of linux...and because nvidia is better for it you feel the need to jump in and trash one brand of gpu over another due to your fanboism for a OS??... it isnt too direct...but this fits..."pot meet kettle"....

and you provided many examples of it it in this thread alone...

Here we see you attempting to put yourself as a unbiased opinion in the whole debate...

And then....

you can't use specs either, as they both define what a sp is, and they also tabulate the speed of their vram and sp differently.

yes there are benchmarks out there that are definitely biased towards one over the other, but any benchmark that is "biased" isn't really a benchmark now is it?
.
Then we see that linux fanboism shining through there... even when amd/ati users show best bang for buck, or less heat genereated, or even less power used...those are non consequential right??... or is it only matters is that is works better in linux, or has higher fps and more features(for 20 some games) as compared to the competition??... as i said before..."pot meet kettle"......

Ok...lets go with that...Why is it you are a fanboi of linux??...you have a personal beef with MS?? or is it you feel linux is the superior OS??....If you think such...I hear great things about apple's OS... why not simply go for a mac..they seem to be superior in terms of music, and video editing?? You do not mind spending the extra cash on nvidia products...why not go hog wild and get a mac??....After all it all about terms of superior performance and features here right??

Or is it you feel that linux gives you the best of what YOU want out of a personal computer...mac or PC withstanding...Why cant amd users do the same without you trashing them cause their cards dont work as well on your linux??...

Well in essence they dont matter...a majority on this site are GAMERS..and the amount of games that TRULY uses Tesselation or GPU Physx is very small...and for some not worth the extra cost of a nvidia GPU....

Though in regards to folding and some applications that uses CUDA... that is where Nvidia shines...but not many of those apply to the majority of PC gamers...

In this I am not trashing Nvidia or propping up AMD in its totality...Both makers have their PROs and CONs... All depends on the end buyers wants and needs...Though competition between the two does drive down prices and keeps innovation moving forward...

Isn't the 6970 like 5% faster than the 480? And the 570 is around 2% faster than the 480. That makes the 6970 3% faster than the 570. Th 6970 lacks PhysX though, so the 570 is the obvious choice.

Definitely SLi.

Maybe that has changed.

I am getting another GTX 570 and a 1000W silentpro, that should be enough for PhysX right?
Hehe

SLi GTX 570 numbers are still ridiculous at 1200P/1600P, thats all I need.

6970 is slower than a 480.

570 hands down, I don't see any argument in favor of the 6970.

The 6970 is the winner for that battle, but the 6970 was actually made to comepete against the GTX580 and the GTX580 is faster than the 6970 by quite a bit.
But the 570 has PhysX and the 6970 is only theoretically 3% Faster than the 570 so the 570 would be the natural choice.
