Wait...it's not starting with KDE 4.6? WHY!?!? It shaved off 50-100MB of default idle RAM usage and produced (I don't know how to phrase this) better RAM usage management all around for me in Kubuntu. So why is it not the default in Slackware's current?

if you can't wait, you can go to alienbob's ftp, and download the kde 4.6 pkgs, alone with the changed system packages for current and 13.1.

Read First
Read For 13:37
the instructions are quite simple on how to add 4.6 kde to 13.1, 13.37 and current (current has prolly been wiped since 13.37 just released.)
more than likely, 14 will be out in 6 months or so, they don't have a planned release cycle like other distro's do. they basically push a new release when they feel /current is stable.

Been there, doing that! 13.37 is going in today! It would have been sooner since I saw this days ago but like many here, I have waayy too many projects. So much silicon to torture... so little time
However it won't be a huge leap since I am already running current from mid January (and on 2.6.38rc2) which has been more solid than most other distros full releases in my experience, but that's just how Slack rolls. For you guys worrying about KDE 4.6 all I can say is that in more than 10 years of using Slackware I have seen such patterns before and have learned that Patrick and team are like an army of Yoda... wise they are, and wait like Sun Tsu until eveything has overwhelming odds in their (our) favor. It is why I not only prefer Slackware but send them money whenever I can. 1337 is a propos to Slack.
BTW Patrick has been ill and cannot work a regular job so Slackware is all he does and Alien Bob (aka Erik Hameleer) is a powerhouse of energy. These guys are driven! and it shows. So any of you that still think "Slackware is too hard and only for the UberGeeks" get a clue - it is not that hard and it is worth it - and while you're at it, some cojones and try it! What have you got to lose but a little time? One month of exclusive use and 90% of you will be hopelessly hooked.
Besides, you don't want to blush when someone sees your 13.37 T-Shirt and asks if you really are a Slacker.

Greetz all
